Manchester Honda Acquires Carter Chevrolet

August 17th, 2016 by

Manchester Honda acquired Carter Chevrolet back on July 11th through a buy/sell agreement with Carter Chevrolet.

“We are excited to announce our first acquisition and are pleased to expand our footprint in Connecticut, now offering a full line of Honda and Chevrolet products,” Manchester Honda Vice President Jonathan Larabee said in a statement.

This deal links together two major and deep-rooted dealerships in the Manchester area’s automotive marketplace. Carter Chevrolet will continue to do business under the Carter name, which has been in the area since 1936. The dealership was previously owned by the Carter family, and most recently by Stephen Carter.

Located at 1229 Main Street, the Chevy dealership will move to a larger location and a newly-built facility in Vernon within the next year to make way for a CVS Pharmacy to replace it on Main Street.

Carter’s History

Carter Chevrolet opened as a family-owned business back in 1936 by Walter Carter Sr. The dealership moved from 195 Center Street, to its current location at the south end of Main Street in 1955.

Since its beginning days, Carter Chevrolet has been offering time and involvement to community events and programs. Please click here to learn more about the dealership’s history.

Throughout their long run of business, Carter Chevrolet has proudly remained an automotive leader in Manchester and the surrounding areas. This has been achieved by giving back to the community, treating their staff like family, and making customer satisfaction the ultimate priority.

The Future

Ultimately, both dealerships plan to work together in this new partnership. The goal is to continue to deliver a wide range of Honda and Chevrolet products to the people of Manchester, Hartford, West Hartford, East Hartford, and Glastonbury.

Both dealerships are committed to their customers and giving back to their communities. These similarities will help both businesses succeed under the Manchester Sports Center umbrella.
