2018 Honda Fit: New Styling & Sport Model
Honda’s smallest of the vehicles, the Fit Hatchback, has received several updates for the 2018 model year. The 2018 Honda Fit has added new styling modifications, additional safety features, a new optional audio system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a new Sport model.
The 2018 Honda Fit features a new grille with a two-piece chrome and piano-black grille. The new grille flows into the headlights in a more cohesive manner. The Fit’s ‘H’ badge is also more prominent, with the fog-light housings showcasing a more angular design.
For 2018, the Fit also features a lower and wider appearance thanks to a new front and rear fascia, and new wheel finishes. Drivers can also get excited about the expanded exterior color palette, which include two exciting options- Helios Yellow and Orange Fury.
The new Fit’s sport trim lies between the LX and EX models, featuring an even more aggressive and sporty look with aero form features at the front, sides and rear, integrated fog lights, and a low and sharp front splitter highlighted in bright orange. The Sport trim also gets an exclusive gloss-black finish on 16-inch alloy wheels. Finally, at the back of the Fit there’s a three-strake diffuser with bright orange upper trim line, chrome exhaust, and a Sport badge to complete its distinct styling.
On the inside, the Fit Sport differentiates itself with a black interior with unique cross-hatched fabric for the seats and door trim. The exterior’s orange accent theme continues inside with bright orange stitching on the seats, the console mounted armrest, and the leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
The biggest news for those interested in a 2018 Honda Fit is that Honda’s Sensing safety suite has been added as an option. It provides adaptive cruise control, brake mitigation system, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and road departure mitigation warning systems.
The Honda Sensing suite is available on the LX and Sport trims, but is included standard on EX trims and higher.
A new infotainment system system also makes it debut for 2018. It comes standard in the Sport, EX, and EX-L trims, which allows for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All Fit models include a rearview camera, tailgate spoiler, auto on-off headlights, LED brake lights, and Bluetooth.
Fuel Economy and Utility
As expected, the 2018 Honda Fit retains its excellent EPA fuel-economy rating of 29/36/31* (city/highway/combined) for manual transmission models and 31/36/33* for the Sport, EX, and EX-L with CVT.
Drivers will also appreciate the utility. The rear hatch provides access to a quite spacious and accommodating cargo area. By folding the 60/40 split 2nd row Magic Seat forward, you’ll have access to 52.7 cubic feet of cargo space!
