With a rugged design and seating for five, the 2019 Honda Passport brings adventure to Honda’s lineup of SUVs. The Passport shares its chassis, engine, AWD system and transmission with the three-row Honda Pilot, as a mid-size crossover SUV that is larger than the CR-V. It is expected to arrive in early 2019.
The 2019 Honda Passport is built for the outdoors! Forged for outdoor exploration, the Passport combines athletic design with utility. It also features an increased ride height, standard 20-inch wheels and tires, and plenty of matte black trim. All trims of the Passport come with a black grille and LED headlights, LED fog lights, LED taillights, and LED daytime running lights. Two appearance packages-Urban and Adventure-will offer different wheels and exterior details.
The Touring and Elite versions get wider tires, and some versions are available that include wide matte black trim that extends from the bottom of the doorsills up and over the wheel arches. The Passport has a shorter overall length and rear overhang when compared to the Pilot, which is intended to provide the Passport better capabilities and clearance to go up over challenging terrain.
There will also be a wide range of Honda Genuine Accessories to help you outfit your Passport for endless journeys, like available gloss-black wheels and roof rails.
In the 2019 Passport, all trims will use a 3.5-liter V6 engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. This will produce 280 horsepower and 262-lb-ft of torque. Drivers will also appreciate the fact that when road conditions change, the Intelligent Traction Management system allows you to change from four different drive modes-Normal, Snow, Sand, and Mud.
The 2019 Passport provides you with a cabin that’s fit for adventure. Access your smartphone’s music, messages, and more with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration. Touring and Elite trims include Wi-Fi hotspot navigation, as well as a 10-speaker audio system. Opting for the EX-L, Touring, and Elite trims provide a passenger power seat, front heated seats, and sunroof. The Elite model also includes a wireless phone charger, heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, and auto-dimming side mirrors.
Inside, you’ll also find plenty of room for five passengers. It also features 41.2 cubic feet of cargo space, so the Passport can hold all of your gear. The second-row bench can fold flat to expand the cargo area into a space large enough to carry a mountain bike. Plus, the underfloor storage compartment has removable and washable bins. The optional power tailgate is available with a hands-free feature, which should make it easier to load all of your outdoor gear.
Drivers will be pleased to hear that the Honda Sensing® suite of advanced safety and driver-assistance systems comes standard. This includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind spot warning is standard on the EX-L, Touring, and Elite trim levels.
